I have the version from Bamtam Classics; might that be the 'good one' to read?
In any case, the book starts well as it is dedicated to:

"Sarah Orne Jewett
in whose beautiful and delicate work

Isn't that a coïncidence, as that is the writer I voted for. Well, on reading now...
