Calibre Not Seeing Kobo Aura H20 Edition 2 Contents

A friend has a Kobo Aura H2O Edition 2. He cannot get Calibre to detect its contents. So, we connected it to my laptop. Same thing. The device is seen as a removable device under Windows 10 and Calibre sees it as being connected. But when we go to "Device" nothing is displayed.

Then we got an error. Below is the data that was copied to the Clipboard.

calibre, version 3.14.0
ERROR: Error: Error communicating with device

I checked all of the Kobo plugins. All are installed and are up-to-date. Even searched for new ones that may be specific to this model Kobo.

Is there anything else that we can do to get Kobo to talk to Calibre?

Thanks
Martin
