I'd rather see a less Vanilla ROM from Kobo since I believe that one of the merits of an ereader is a distraction free reading environment.
That said, I would probably use a vanilla ROM from a third party since the Vox currently ships with too many apps that are there for purely marketing purposes (globe2go, pressdisplay, zinio, rdio, INQ, etc.).
Laridae: the processor and memory on the Vox is plenty powerful for multimedia. Cripes, I remember the days when a 50 MHz 80486 or 68040 was considered a video production machine. Sure there was plenty of add-on hardware to do that, but even that add-on hardware was nothing compared to the video extensions on modern microprocessors.
