I was just researching into this question

One thing I saw were reports that the units labeled "R103" were R101's with a sticker that said "R103".

The main difference seems to be that Android hackers have been complaining that the units appear to be identical to the user but the R103 is harder to "root" (i.e., to hack) than the R101.
