It's not really a screensaver literally, like the old ones meant to prevent burn in.
It's really more of a power saver - the kindle goes to sleep. That screen is just a way of letting people know it's asleep, so they don't call up Amazon and complain about it not flipping pages anymore (if they just froze it where you stopped reading)
