The vast majority of automobile owners never open the hood but some owners do.
The vast majority of Embedded Linux devices probably never open the hood either.
But even taking those statements as general facts -
It is still no reason for the hood to be welded closed.
(Which is no longer the case (no pun intended), if you have serial port access and a bit of technical skill.)
