The Wrong Lance is a failed attempt at what became
Accepting the Lance, novel #22 in the Liaden Universe. The authors were some 60,000 words into the book when they realized that it had to be scrapped completely and start over because it had taken a critically wrong turn. They have taken those 60K words and released them, with the strong caveat that this is entirely non-canon. It didn't happen, it's not real, and is there only for our enjoyment. They initially made it available as a serial, one chapter at a time, for free on their
Splinter Universe site. That has now been compiled into a single chapbook for those who prefer to get their Liaden Universe goodies in a single piece, rather than stretched across several weeks.
