I'd like to recommend The Finkler Question by Howard Jacobson. It won the Man Booker prize for 2010 -- the first such "humour" winner in the literary category in eons.

The Guardian, Independent and Telegraph did reviews of it in late summer. It's probably available as a public library ebook, too.

But for classic humour / satire fiction, Kurt Vonnegut is arguably on his own planet. So that's why The Sirens of Titan may appeal -- his second novel, written at the end of the Eisenhower era and published in 1959. There's a fine composite interview with Vonnegut in the Paris Review of Books worth a read. But, if you are looking for excuse to introduce yourself to Vonnegut, or reread this classic, here's your chance!

So one recent and one classic choice ... what are you waiting for? Vote!
