I'd like to recommend
The Finkler Question by Howard Jacobson. It won the Man Booker prize for 2010 -- the first such "humour" winner in the literary category in eons.
The

Telegraph did reviews of it in late summer. It's probably available as a public library ebook, too.
But for classic humour / satire fiction, Kurt Vonnegut is arguably on his own planet. So that's why
The Sirens of Titan may appeal -- his second novel, written at the end of the Eisenhower era and published in 1959. There's a fine composite interview with Vonnegut in the
Paris Review of Books worth a read. But, if you are looking for excuse to introduce yourself to Vonnegut, or reread this classic, here's your chance!
