Thank for the explanation. I didn't quite get the point where you say that the lack of diacritic for the long, apart from deriving from old Meiji era transliteration, is used to show that the word comes from a Katakana word ?!(I must have understood something wrong). But perhaps this is not the best place to discuss the issue, in case you could send me a link od a PM if you have time.
Gong back to the software, basically I would like to create library cards (and have their info on digital format as well), that have the roman character transliteration, diacritics included, so that the librarian could put the cards wherever they need to go (I think he needs them to write in pencil the transliterated title on the first page of the book) and a file with the digital data that can be added to the main database.
Can Endnote do this, I mean fetch data with the transliteration from the Library of Congress Catalog?
