The author's (a German merchant) account of his own captivity in the Sudan between 1887 and 1899. Not for the fainthearted.
It has been cleaned up from an OCR-ed version that is full of errors, and no doubt there are plenty left. However it is (at worst) readable.
There are one or two illustrations that are missing, particularly the sketch map accompanying the account (in an Appendix) of the death of General Gordon.
I haven't tried to clean up the index as it refers to pages that cannot be located in an e-book as crude as this one.
