I think it does depend. I read and write erotica and my novel is a dark adult fantasy/fantasy romance with sex init. However the scenes are (I think) justified within the characterisation of the characters and not just for the sake of it. I like historical romance and a bit of a saucy scene if it is well done. But I do appreciate it is not to everyone's taste. I market mine as having romance/erotica in it and the first sex scene is in chapter one and can be seen on the "look inside" on Kindle, I also put a "contains adult scenes" warning.

Fair enough though if that is not for you. I write what I like to read in some part and everyone is different. The sexy scenes in books can overwhelm the story some times and a lot of erotica is your own imagination filling in the details.
