O, I didn't known (I own a Touch). But I think the first part of my previous post is still relevant: simpler and you can edit when not in reach of the local network.
Of course there are not universal solutions and the original poster might prefer the remote desktop approach, in which case the ssh tunneling might be a valuable insight.
