Do you use WIN 7?
There's another thread of problems connecting to WIN 7 machines in the german forum. If not try different cables and/or USB ports, eventually it will connect.
For your WiFi problem, make sure the access is not hidden and the SSID contains no special characters. iÍf you checked this and it still won't connect switch the channels of your router until you find one your device likes
