Nope, you can use your computer to download books. Just connect your K2 with the USB cable and transfer books to the "documents" folder.

Use
www.mobileread.mobi (the mobile version of the site) and you won't see a pre-filled box.

Try all the USB ports on your computer. Some may work better than others.
