I don't mind having the CPU used at 100%. There are other programs that do it. But for some reason, calibre is the only one not playing fair. While transcoding simultaneously 20 audio files with lame.exe through Wine, I can simulate a fully running Windows 7 machine with 2 CPUs and 2 GB RAM. But when calibre starts, screen refreshes every few seconds, abd downloads are dropped, despite callibre's network load being minute. Today it even killed the X session in which I was running it. There is something wrong.
PS. This is under Ubuntu. The Windows version is more friendly. I might have to use calibre under Wine.
