Weyman, Stanley J.: The Red Cockade v1 19 Sep 2011

The Red Cockade is a Dumas-like swashbuckling historical romance, set around 1789 in Cahors and Nimes at the time of the French Revolution, and tells of the adventures of an aristocrat sympathetic to the cause of the people. The San Francisco Chronicle said this one 'deserves a place among the best historical fiction of the latter part of this [the nineteenth] century.' One of Weyman's finest.

This is by far the most difficult and time consuming ebook I have done, mainly because the source text was a scanned book from the Internet archive which was full of OCR errors, completely omitted accents, italics, and dashes, and had running headings on all pages.

The ebook has been proof read against a very old hard back version of the book, but I can give no guarantee that all errors have been corrected. If you see any errors please let me know so I can fix them.

27 April 2014 Version 2 was taken from a much better source, has better internal structure and tables of content, and three illustrations.
