Temp files

Calibre makes a number of temp files ( some 0 bytes) that I've been manually deleting.

I'm wondering what they're for, whether it's OK to get rid of them, and if so, why they don't get deleted by the program.

The temp files have names like:

cal1C5.tmp
calibre_0.7.13_6sks1l_worker_redirect
calibre_ipc_result_1_23.pickle

And folders like:

calibre_0.7.13_zhgzp__ebook_iter
calibre_0.7.13_i0mfwq_plumber
