I think this is one of the reasons why NaNoWriMo is useful. It removes the need to be good from the creative process. With your mind focussing on quantity, and the gaming element of the 50,000 word goal in 30 days, you're free to let rip without fear.
A lot of what I wrote last year is poor, but my writing improved because of it.
