How about trying a bowl of fresh sliced peaches with a sprinkling of sugar? Let it macerate for a few minutes then put a spoonful of peaches on a slice of pound cake or angel food cake. Top with a little cream (clotted or whipped). Excellent! And it won't freeze your brain.

mmmm, peaches.... actually i like them plain just fine. although technically i prefer nectarines, because i don't like that fuzz. it squeaks on my teeth and makes me cringe just thinking about it. it's like the dreaded n***s on b***kb****s.

Peaches aren't ripe here yet, sadly. I refuse to eat store-bought peaches, because they taste nothing like peaches and are either crunchy or mealy.

crunchy peaches are an abomination, i completely agree. the same goes for nectarines. and mealy is just as bad.
here, in season, you can usually find good ones if you go to the four seasons shops rather than the grocery store, which i always do anyway. i'm going to get some next time i go shopping, for sure.
