Is there a relationship between the replicants in the movie Blade Runner and the boomers* in the anime series Bubblegum Crisis and its related series? Although replicants are essentially biological robots, while boomers are machines in the form of humans, both are basically more human than human (to use a line from Blade Runner). Both are designed for a function, but become trouble for normal humans when they advance beyond that function.

*As shown in the series, it seems that a boomer is what you get if you take a human and duplicate him/her, using electronics and mechanical to duplicate the biological functions of a human. Properly constructed, a boomer should function the same as a biological human.
