Ambrose Pratt (1874-1944) was an Australian journalist and novelist, author of some 30 novels and perhaps as many non-fiction titles.
This, his second novel, is a swashbuckler set in the midst of the Napoleonic Wars, with scapegrace Caryl Franks in trouble on both sides of the channel, Bonaparte and the Earl of Chatham, and Tallyrand as well, appearing as themselves as Franks deceives, and duels, his way out.
Sabatini territory, i'faith.
