Mind, even this is not perfect. I had highlights for the ASoIaF 5-book set and when the ebook was updated to a new version, highlights were off by a few words, sentences or even entire paragraphs.
Thankfully, the Kindle app allows exporting annotations to HTML which I did before allowing the ebook to update.
