Have we made a mistake embracing the digital for music? There's something to be said for analog. 8-track tapes were one of the high points in analog music reproduction, simple to operate and use. Cassettes were even better.

Now, things are so simple with digital but are they better? Now it's so boring, just pop a disc in and listen to music. Even simpler, we now have small devices that can carry so much music. You can carry so much music now that you don't have to make any choices about which songs you can take with you since you can take them all.

But what about the glorious days when you could carry an entire album on a tape the size of a deck of cards? The fun of making your own collections of songs on one tape, spending hours to get just the right mix of songs.

Oh well, at least we have the past.
