I also cannot launch Calibre 0.7.9 on Windows XP sp3. I don't even get the splash screen. The harddrive spins for a bit and calibre shows in the task manager, but no window. That was yesterday evening. Today after a reboot I tried launching again, still not showing up. ... Ok as I was typing Calibre finally showed up. I closed it and launched it again and counted slowly to 75 before it showed up. The splash screen was drawn on the screen at about 72 seconds.
