Trollope, Anthony: Framley Parsonage [Barset 04]. v1. 05 Aug. 07

Here's the 4th (of 6) volumes in Anthonly Trollope's Barsetshire Chronicles.

Trollope's major concerns in his fiction included property, status, family and the social conventions.

Here's what one source said:

"Why read something that was written a century and a half ago? Because Trollope knew more about the human psyche than Freud and Jung put together, and wrote about it not with a clinician's jaundiced eye, but with incredible tenderness and love. And entertainingly, to boot....Not the first in the series, (it is the fourth but perhaps the best), FRAMLEY PARSONAGE traces the faith, home and political lives of a number of intertwining families. Here you will find love, ambition, political maneuvering, gambling debts, pretension, humility, envy, forgiveness, hate, romance. If it sounds like a slice of modern life-it is. We and the Victorians are so much alike; the human condition does not change.

I think that reader really hit on the main reason why we still read Trollople today: He's relevant because he has the ability to teach us about the Human Condition through the characters, times, and situations that he creates.

I hope you enjoy it.
