This is a book of military history which covers application of the operational art from Napoleon to Desert Storm. The operational art is the glue which binds military tactics to military strategy. Without it, battles are fought without clear aims causing needless death. Without it, grand strategy is merely empty plans. It is the failure to understand the concepts in this book that caused horrific slaughter in World War I, and the failure of Germany in World War II.
