calibre freezes/crashes occasionally? to see if there's anything pertinent.
If no clues there, set the relevant entry in
Environment variables to get calibre to use its own file dialogues
If you are using an option in a 3rd party file manager to replace the 'standard' Windows File Manager -- e.g. Directory Opus, xplorer˛, etc -- try turning the option off.
