They could do a special on Archimedes and the gold crown (if they haven't already, I've never watched it.) I read a paper several years back (maybe in Scientific American?) that said that the difference in density for a gold-filled or gold-alloy crown vs. a pure gold crown would not have been measurable by water displacement using tools available at the time.
