I don't know German but will respond in English in case you can understand my response that way. I used Google Translation to understand your note.

how useful is the Kindle DX Experimental Browser in Austria / Germany?
Limited functionality on Wikipedia and Amazon, or you can order to access webmail (gmail / yahoo etc) and other websites?
|
Not limited, except that you should not try to access large, complex sites with many images, especially larger images. In many cases, a site will recognize you are on a mobile device and will deliver you the mobile version of a website (as smartphones do).
I did not try the 2nd one. The first and third ones (special address for news.google.com that you gave and the global nytimes) do work fine and go into mobile-device version.
For those who have tried this before, Amazon has made response time much faster now for such text-focused access.
While there are about 56 countries enabled for the web-browser, the Austria and Germany product page show web browsing as not available. But in reports I've received after Amazon enabled 52 new countries, people from several countries, including Austria and Germany, are reporting that they DO have the web browser enabled.
This may be because of the new feature in the new software update v2.5.x which allows Kindle users to highlight a passage and then tell the Kindle to send it to friends at Facebook and/or Twitter.

That includes comments from Austria and Germany though many are also in an Amazon forum message thread as well, and I counted them together.
To use the web browser and take advantage of links to mobile-device-optimized sites collected into a downloadable file acting as a 'book' see

As for how these will look on a DX, I have photos of that using my OLDER Kindle DX at
