After converting an ebook from HTML to Mobi with Kindlegen, I then used ebook-convert to produce a EPUB file. This file opens with no problem in Calibre.

When I create an HTML file with a link to the EPUB file, windows asks if I want to open or save the file. Windows sees the file as type "Compressed (zipped) Folder. I have the file type "epub" associated with the Calibre program. It should just open directly in Calibre. Instead it looks like Windows thinks it's a zip file and wants to exract it for me. When I select open, I get the following message.

Do you want to save this file?
Type: epub_auto_file

It then reports that the file can not be opened by the default program. It is either corrupted or it has an incorrect file type.

Using 7za to list the contents of the epub file gives...

>7za l test.epub
