There is no difference. Voltage is voltage - it does not matter where it comes from. It could be a solar battery pack, or a car cigarette lighter socket, or even a pedal powered generator.
The only caveat is that the PC has to generate enough current - which frankly some PCs do not. But if you are using a powered USB hub, then there should be no problem.
I have charged my PB302 via the USB socket (which the manual says you can do) from a solar battery pack, and a car booster battery pack. Also my PC (via a powered hub). All have worked ok.
While I have charged my PB302 via these methods - I have never left it on long enough to get the final green light saying it has been FULLY charged. But it does charge ok.
I still think that there is something funny about the charging system - it takes way too long even using the normal factory supplied charger.
