Actually Lbook is a reseller just like Astak. They buy their hardware from Jinke just like Astak does. The BIG difference is that they also get the SDK from Jinke/Hanlin and do value added development on the basic Jinke/Hanlin baseline. That is probably why a lot of the newer features show up from Lbook first. The more popular features do eventually make their way back into the Jinke SDK, and then the resale only vendors will have those features too. For example, the clock function seems to have happened that way. I would be willing to bet that the Lbook "file management" will eventually show up in the Astak rebranded firmware too.
From what I have seen on the-ebook.org it seems that the newest Jinke SDK has had the excess battery consumption bug resurface, and that seems apparent from the last Astak firmware update and several of the Buggins CoolReader snapshots built on that SDK. Lbook seems to have already fixed the problem on their end since their 0622 firmware no longer has the bug, so hopefully the fix should probably be in the next firmware build that the other vendors get from Jinke/Hanlin. The new SDK still has a few bugs that would be nice to get rid of before Jinke/Hanlin sends out new firmware to Astak and the other resellers.
