***Next week I'll be publishing (already written) an article on my blog about how poor the reviews are in the New York Times Sunday Book Review. The reviews are uninformative and give no guidance to the reader.***

Thanks, Richard. I'm signed up to your blog, so I'll look forward to that. I share your views on mainstreaming reviewing. I am impressed, though, by some (very few) of the non-partisan online review sites that have cropped up over the past few years to cover the declining standards in major print literary pages. A favourite of mine is http://www.compulsivereader.comwhich reviews commercial releases, releases by small press and even, occasionally, self-published work. Highly recommended. Best wishes. Neil
