Those are excellent questions, and should be addressed but, in the mean time, those of us who
have the iPhone 4, such as you and me, have to face the world the way it is, rather than the way we think it ought to have been.
Personally I think that, even with this minor issue (not "minor" in the sense that it shouldn't have happened, but minor in the sense that it's so easy to fix), the iPhone 4 is a superb device. I'm not going to return it, because I don't know of anything comparable on the market that I could replace it with.
What are you going to do? Return it, or get a case and have a usable phone again?
