I'm on Mac OS X 10.5.8 and I'm having the same problem. I get the same messages on my Console log whenever I try to do anything with calibre and the app becomes really sluggish on my computer.

I have a bunch of covers that are are not 3:4. Do I need to change the cover sizes? Or should I delete the preferences folder (and is there a way to delete the prefs, but maintain my saved searches?)
