true train story... I was white water rafting with my Explorer Post in my teens, something we did quite a bit. we would usually go on 3-5 day excursions, and some of the older members were professional guides (something I did later on, but that is another story). we were coming through a canyon that was running higher and faster than usual and all of the normal pullouts were covered with water. we had to keep going well past nightfall. when we finally pulled out everyone was completely exhausted. no tents were set up, no fires were made, we just munched on trail mix, pulled out our sleeping bags and crashed. along about o'dark thirty the demons from hell were upon us! we had pulled out right next to where the railroad tracks were very close to the river and the freight train was going through. we all ended up with spark burns on our sleeping bags and galloping adrenaline!
