The Oberons are beautiful--I have one of their Celtic Knot journals as well--but I found quickly that function was far more important than beauty when it comes to Kindle covers, and between the excessive weight, thickness, and my dislike of their corner-based retention system, the Oberon just wasn't as functional as the Noreve. Also, the leather on the Oberon began to show wear almost immediately, with permanent crease marks appearing at the spine and dye wearing off in the same area; there's been no such issue with the Noreve.
At the moment though, I'm rediscovering using the Kindle as is. It's just so darn thin and light that it almost seems a shame to have a cover on it at all. So I've been carrying it around in a semi rigid sleeve that's no longer made, and reading it with no cover at all. That sleeve is the one shown in my avatar.
I do have a SquareTrade warranty on it which covers accidental damage, so I tend to worry about it less than I would otherwise--not sure if that warranty is available in the UK, but if it or something similar is, I highly recommend getting one. A regular extended warranty (including Amazon's) generally doesn't cover dropping the unit or accidentally sitting on it, but this one will.
My husband has an M-Edge cover for his iPad and loves it. The quality seems excellent, and I wouldn't hesitate to use one if all other features fit your needs, along with your budget. |
