Do consumers have to have a reason why?
Some people buy things because they can afford them and want to try them out and end up liking them. Some might buy something basic and them later get something more advanced but keep old faithful. Some might buy different sizes for different reasons. There is no one answer, and it doesn't really matter, anyway.
