It is a bit unusual. I believe that the smell of the stems is one of the main selling points of cluster tomatoes (or whatever they are called in English). I love smelling my fingers after taking care of the tomato plants (who need to be watered more by the way).
One of my sisters likes oranges, but hate the smell they leave on your hands. Isn't that strange?
