Congratulations to Germany. The final score does, I think, flatter them, but overall they certainly deserved to win.

I hope this is a "wake-up" call for the England national team. They were in what was beyond a doubt the easiest group in the competition, drawn against three sides (Algeria, Slovenia, and the USA) who could be considered by nobody (and I mean no disrespect in saying this) to be in the top flight of world football. They have poor draws against Algeria and the USA, and scrape a win against Solvenia. Unsurprisingly, the first world-class team that they come up against gives them a lesson in how the game should be played.

It's the worst World Cup performance I've seen from England in a long, long time.
