Once it was materially possible, the Francoist dictatorship shoved up the National Identification Document (DNI in its Spanish name). When you're 14 or older, it's mandatory that you carry it everywhere with you. And of course, beware if you do not produce it at the request of police, who can request it at will. A fine and up to 3 days of imprisonment might await you.
