Reminds me of when one of my late cats somehow found and ate a ribbon. Thankfully it passed through her without tangling in her innards. Not so thankfully she panicked when it was about 3/4 out, and raced round the house trying to escape from it
we had that scenario once. we came home and the cat went DASHING up the stairs. my son said; "Mom! something's chasing the cat!" (of course in his world at that time the possibility of space aliens visiting wasn't a matter of if, but when, and of course our house would have been first!) he chased the cat up the stairs, and grabbed the end of the ribbon, getting a hand full of cat poo. we got upstairs, turned on the lights and saw about a foot of what was about a 3 foot ribbon hanging out of the cats butt. we kept her in the bathroom for about 3 days I think and I dutifully snipped off pieces whenever more emerged
Our long haired kitty was terrible for that. If anything got stuck on the fur he wanted nothing to do with it. We ended up keeping just a small area around his bum cut short.
