I agree, Adam. I have a 45 minute drive each way to and from work, so I have an hour and a half each day that's otherwise just wasted. I play my iPod through my car's audio system, and it's just perfect for audiobooks. For me it's not a substitute for reading - just a different "experience".
As you say, it's even better on long journeys, especially when you're alone. Keeps me awake and alert, and makes the time absolutely fly by.
