A new position can turn a person into someone they are not. Those at the top can be toppled and those at the bottom can be crushed. Some jobs are worth killing for.
That's interesting, Simon. I keep hearing authors say Amazon is discounting their ebooks. They haven't touched mine, which is currently priced at 99 cents. I'd say they couldn't go lower (I thought 99 cents was the floor), except that Rex Kusler's Punctured was reduced from 99 cents to 79 cents. Maybe at his request? (Just a speculation.)
