I noticed this as well. I just bought mine Monday and it was at v1.3. I immediately softroot'd it, and then noticed it was auto-updating to the v1.4 firmware. But everything appears to be Ok. This is probably due to the nature of the update.

I have noticed that the standard system "Settings" button on the nookLauncher does not appear to work so I have to go through the default Home menu to change system settings. But I didn't get to use it long enough at softroot 1.3 to know whether it worked before the update.
