Column scrolling?

I know we've discussed this before, but now that people are experimenting with more modifications to iPDF, I thought it would be useful to bring it up again. How difficult would it be to implement a scroll feature that would adjust to handle columns? A "page forward" would alternately scroll down and up per column greater than 1, as set by a toggle icon at the bottom of the screen (for 1, 2, or 3 columns.) This could even be the same software button as is used currently for switching between discrete page turn and continuous scrolling.
