I have self-scanned books (not pdf) that I didn't really want to transfer by any means that would involve uploading, which would've limited me to the Calibre/wifi route according to the folks I asked, and a LAN is a bit overkill if you're on dialup. I can treat my current phone as a USB drive, but now the password safe app I like best requires wifi sync...six of one, half a dozen of the other I guess...
