Canadian prices are somewhat higher, very true, but never almost twice as much as in the US.

For example, the US paperback edition of the book in question on amazon.com is $7.99 (which is the same range as the Kindle edition), while the Canadian paperback price is $9.99 (on amazon.ca).

I would expect Kobo ebook to be in the $10 range as well.
