While South Korea is not exactly a World Cup candidate, it is hardly an underdog. They consistently come to the World Cup and they tend to make it to the second round. The 2002 third place was a rather shady thing, though. Italy and Spain suffered incredibly biased referees who nullified goals and let Korean players do what they wanted in the field, the Korean goalie did even place himself one meter before the line goal in the penalty shootout against Spain with the referee saying nothing.
