It's gaining publicity in that sense, but most people don't know the term.
If you showed the commercials with people doing it to people and asked them if they knew the term for what the people where doing was, most would have no idea. Especially in older generations who haven't had exposure to the term from video games (Mirror's Edge) etc. etc. as coverage of the sport (outside of commercials etc.) has largely been in media aimed at younger folk.
